How soon before my wedding day should I book Showpony Hair?

As wedding seasons book up very quickly, we strongly recommend you book as early as possible. It’s not uncommon for bookings to take place one year before the wedding date

How do I go about booking Showpony Hair for my wedding?

We first ask that you fill out our Wedding Information Sheet and then we follow up with a contract. In order to secure your booking, we require both your signed contract and the 40% reservation retainer.

What is the 40% reservation retainer based on?

The 40% reservation retainer is based on the total cost of all those requiring hair services, including any applicable travel fees.

Do the stylists come onsite for wedding hair services?

Typically the stylists will go onsite for wedding hair services, but it’s always an option to come to the studio

Does Showpony Hair provide makeup services?

No, the team does not provide makeup services but we can provide some great referrals.

How much time will it take for hair services on the wedding day?

Typically the bride’s hair will take 1 to 1.5 hours. For the others, 45 minutes for any styles, and 30 minutes for blowouts only.

Is it possible to meet the stylist before deciding to book?

A complimentary 15-30 minute consultation appointment with the stylist is always an option, whether before securing a booking or afterward.

How should I determine end time for ‘day of’?

We recommend that you aim to have all hair and makeup services done by at least an hour before you need to leave for your ceremony, or pictures if being done beforehand.

Is there a travel fee associated with the mobile service?

Yes there is a travel fee of $0.75/km anywhere outside of Ottawa

Do I need to have a trial?

A trial is strongly recommended. It’s an opportunity to ‘test drive’ a style before the ‘big day’. It also ensures that the bride and stylist are clear of the expectations and are confident on the wedding day.

When should I book my trial appointment?

Trials are typically done a month or two before the wedding date and we strongly recommend that you book it in advance.

Where is the trial done?

Trials are always done at the Showpony Hair studio, located at 722 Bank Street (rear entrance), Ottawa, ON K1S 3V2.

Should I bring my veil or hair clips to my trial appointment?

It is recommended that you bring any hair adornments/veils that you intend on wearing on your wedding day to your trial appointment.

Is it possible to have a trial before deciding to book?

Typically trials are done a month or two before the wedding date, after which the booking has already been secured (i.e. contract signed and 40% reservation retainer paid). If a bride wishes to have a trial before actually securing her booking, a ‘prebooking’ trial can be booked at an additional cost.

Can anyone else in my wedding party have a trial?

Yes, anyone from your wedding party is welcome to have a trial at an additional cost.

Is the trial included in the bridal style pricing?

No the trial is an additional cost.

Should I wash my hair on trial day and wedding day?

On both trial day and wedding day, hair should be clean and dry before your appointment with the stylist. Exceptions to this would be if you are getting a blowout only, or if having wet/damp hair was recommended by the stylist.

If my hair is curly, should I air dry or blow dry on trial day and wedding day?

We recommend blow drying, but not flat ironing if looking for a smoother style. If wanting to use natural texture, then diffusing or air drying is fine.

What if I’d like to use my own hair extensions on the wedding day?

The stylist will happily add your extensions to your style on the wedding day. The extensions must be clean and dry before the stylist arrives. If the extensions are new, they must washed with shampoo before they can be used.

Can I purchase/rent hair extensions from Showpony Hair?

Yes, Showpony Hair can purchase hair extensions for you or you may rent some from us. It is strongly recommended that you come in for a quick consultation beforehand in order to match up your color.

Is it best to have hair or makeup done first?

It really does not matter whether your hair or makeup is done first. We only recommend that your makeup is done first if the hairstyle has fringe around your face.

Should the brides hair be styled last on the wedding day?

When you have a larger bridal party, we generally recommend that the brides hair is done in the middle. This way you do not feel rushed, but your style is not done too soon.
